Hi,
 =

FYI - the Trusted Computing Group (TCG) focuses on hardware-based
security and has a Hardcopy Security standard under development - this
should complement the IEEE P2600 Printer Security standard now nearing
completion.
 =

As Harry Lewis (chair PWG) mentions below, the TCG may ask the PWG
for some IPP security-related extensions in the future.
 =

The PWG is now adding all of IPP Print Service (RFC 2911) and Printer MIB =

Print Device (RFC 3805) into the DMTF CIM model (same target as TCG).
 =

Cheers,
- Ira

Subject: PWG-ANNOUNCE> DMTF partners with Trusted Computing Group

While there is no immediate direct link, this announcement is interesting in
that there is synergy based on the fact that both PWG and TCG have a formal
partnership with DMTF and the Trusted Computing Group Hardcopy membership
overlaps with PWG. TCG hardcopy has made overtures related to potential IPP
extensions (no formal requests to date). These extensions could end up in a
future version of the CIM model for printing. =
