Yeah reality is not being very kind to linux on the mobile. We might have to wait until 2012 to celebrate the year of linux on the mobile.<br><br>Nokia's switch to windows likely did cause problem for Intel, but publicly Intel has said that they are still committed. Personally my take is that Intel has heavy interests in Meego succeeding. With mobiles encroaching on laptops and Win 8 shipping on ARM Intel wants their chips on mobile devices. So far the only mobile devices using intel's stuff have been Win7 tablets. Android works on x86 but ARM system on chips dominate android development.<br>
<br>Nokia may be gone as a long term proponent but they should ship a few million units of their N9. I also hold out hope that Nokia switches back to Meego. Their Win7 phones are a ways off and their current options for smartphones are to ship more symbian or ship another meego after the N9. Win7 phone isn't exactly doing well either, Samsung's Bada is already outselling it. <br>
<br>The future will definitely be interesting to see what happens in the mobile space. I doubt meego will displace Android or iOS with Nokia gone but I think Meego will be able to carve out a niche. <br><br>Daniel<br><br>

I am under the impression that Intel sort of backed away from meego when Nokia went with WinPhone. I do know that Intel stopped hiring programmers to work on meego about that time.</p>
